Saturday 23rd August, 11am – noon, Cappuccino Concert with Bill Adair
Admission £5, tea/coffee available for donation.
As well as being a fine guitar player and singer Bill Adair is a prize winning poet and songwriter. His work combines influences from folk and blues, addressing universal themes of love, work, loss and redemption. His award- winning songs have won plaudits from all round the world.
Equally at home singing a traditional ballad or one of his own songs, Bill’s performances are complemented by a natural story-telling style that is both thought-provoking and entertaining.
From his home in Stirling, Bill is much in demand at festivals and folk clubs all over the UK and throughout Europe and New Zealand. He is widely recognised as a renowned interpreter of the poems and songs of Robert Burns.
To date Bill has released two albums. Along The Miners’ Rows was commissioned and recorded to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Auchengeich mining disaster, and features a range of songs written by Bill especially for the album. Dusty Boots on a Gravel Road contains both new songs by Bill and some fresh interpretations of works by Robert Burns, Ewan MacColl, Billy Edd Wheeler and Robin Laing. Bill is currently working with Glasgow University on some new recordings of the songs of Robert Burns on their project Editing Robert Burns for the 21st Century.’
