Review of Vàgr Cappuccino Concert on Sat 5th April.

We were delighted to welcome back to the Wighton Centre the talented cellist, Joanna Stark, one of our former students now making a great name for herself in the professional music world. The other half of the duo Vàgr, Florida born fiddle player, Claudia Edwards, was new to the Wighton but her beautiful, lively but nuanced, fiddle playing made her an instant hit with the audience.

The pair played mostly their own compositions rooted in Scots, Irish and American music but with an enthralling freshness and verve. Joanna’s cello-playing was, as always, brilliant and she was well matched by Claudia who really is a player of outstanding skill and feeling. Rarely has an hour passed so fast or so pleasantly!

Claudia came to Scotland to study for her Master’s degree – I do hope we can persuade her to stay a while!
