Glenfiddich Champion to play at Wighton – Saturday 22nd September

Reigning Glenfiddich Fiddle Champion Maggie Adamson and guitarist Brian Nicolson will provide the musical treats for the Friends of Wighton Cappuccino Concert on Saturday 22nd September in the Wighton Heritage Centre, Central Library, Dundee.

20 year old Maggie Adamson, currently studying at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, is one of Shetland’s finest young fiddlers who exemplifies the dynamic techniques which has made the Shetland fiddle style famous. Maggie is regularly accompanied by Brian Nicholson (a member of Hom Bru and many other groups), perhaps Shetland’s most gifted and prodigious guitarist. The pairing has released three albums to date.

Wednesday 31st October. Lunchtime Recital. 1.15 – 1.45. Storytelling Special with Sheila Kinninmonth!  (note, there won’t be a Lunchtime event on the first Wednesday of November!)

Saturday 17th November. Cappuccino Concert. 10.30am for 11. Gavin Marwick, fiddle, Jonny Hardie, fiddle, and Davy Cattanach, percussion. Three brilliant musicians, who will follow this concert with afternoon workshops.

Saturday 1st December. Cappuccino Concert. 10.30am for 11.  Helen Brown, mezzo soprano,  golden-voiced singer with a wicked sense of humour!  Part of Scotland Sings!

Wednesday 5th December. Lunchtime Recital. 1.15 -1.45pm. The Wighton Singers in their annual Christmas-tide concert.

Saturday 8th December. Cappuccino Concert. 10.30pm for 11.  Ann Heymann, harp. Charlie Heymann, vocals and percussion.  The world-renowned performer and scholar of the wire strung harp makes her second visit to the Wighton and this time she’s bringing Charlie – unmissable!
