The collection of books was brought together in the early 19th century by the Dundee merchant and music collector, Andrew Wighton.
After his death, the books were given to the city of Dundee.
For many years it was kept in the City Library.
A few years back, the Wighton Centre was built in the library, as a specially constructed study and performance centre. The harpsichord was acquired for the centre.
