Today’s lunchtime concert of classical music in the Wighton Centre, upstairs in Dundee Central Library, was organised by the Friends of Wighton in association with Live Music Now.

Soprano Emma Versteeg was accompanied on piano, and also on the Wighton Harpsichord, by Sam Hutchings. An experienced choral singer, Emma currently sings with Canty, Cappella Nova and Ludus Baroque. Sam was recently appointed as Rehearsal Pianist to the Edinburgh Festival Chorus, and holds the same position with the Stirling University Choir.

As well as songs by Purcell and Dowland, accompanied on the harpsichord, Emma also sang classical songs in English and German, a Gershwin show song, and an intruiging jazz interpretation of Shakespeare’s Macbeth. Sam also played a Chopin piano solo.
